Introduction #
Any organisation that wishes to copy a published work will need permission from the copyright owner. If your organisation reproduces, either in print or digitally, articles and shares these internally or externally, it is likely infringing copyright if it does not possess a licence.
Copying can be anything from photocopying articles to scanning and emailing them to colleagues or clients as well as hosting articles on your shared drive or intranet for others to view or, externally, on your corporate website and Facebook pages.
Organisations are allowed to post/share links, but not the headlines, text or imagery. This applies when sharing internally with colleagues, externally with clients or via our website/social media channels and includes articles that were originally written by us.
HM guidelines for sharing coverage are detailed below and should be followed by all personnel.
Internal and external sharing #
- Please only provide links to coverage when sharing with colleagues and clients.
- Do not digitally copy, photocopy or scan articles to save or share.
- On the rare occasion when you have been asked to copy and share an article from a publication please obtain permission from Debra Hollis-King before doing so.
Client coverage reports #
- Please only provide the name of the release (not the headline) and links to the publications.
- Do not include digitally copied, photocopied or scanned articles in the report.
- Please contact Sarah Gibson for the standard coverage report template.
Social Media
- When posting on HM channels or client’s channels (where we have a contract to do so) please only provide links to the coverage and ensure any wording in the post is your own.
- Do not copy wording directly from the published article.
